Original Research Articles
This section publishes original and unpublished research using observational, experimental, qualitative, mixed-methods, implementation, or health-services research designs. Manuscripts should clearly present the research question, methods, results, discussion, and conclusions. Scientific articles normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external reviewers.
Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses
This section publishes systematic reviews and meta-analyses that synthesize evidence relevant to the scope of AHRIE. Manuscripts must follow recognized reporting guidelines, preferably PRISMA 2020, and should include protocol registration when applicable, explicit eligibility criteria, a reproducible search strategy, risk-of-bias assessment, and transparent evidence-synthesis methods. Manuscripts normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external reviewers.
Scoping Reviews
This section publishes scoping reviews that systematically map the extent, range, characteristics, and gaps of evidence on topics relevant to AHRIE. Manuscripts should present a clearly defined question, transparent eligibility criteria, a reproducible search and selection process, and an appropriate method for charting and synthesizing evidence. Authors should follow PRISMA-ScR and report protocol registration when applicable. Manuscripts normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external reviewers.
Brief Research Reports
This section publishes concise reports of original research with a focused objective and limited scope, including pilot studies, preliminary findings, secondary analyses, feasibility studies, and methodologically sound studies with compact results. Brevity does not reduce the requirements for scientific rigor, ethical compliance, transparency, or appropriate reporting. Manuscripts normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external reviewers.
Innovation & Methodology Articles
This section publishes original articles describing the development, adaptation, validation, implementation, or evaluation of innovative methods, models, instruments, interventions, technologies, digital-health solutions, artificial-intelligence applications, or educational approaches relevant to health. Manuscripts must clearly describe the problem addressed, development process, methodological foundations, evaluation strategy, results, limitations, and potential for reproducibility or transferability. Manuscripts normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external
Research Protocols
This section publishes protocols for planned or ongoing research relevant to the scope of AHRIE, provided that data collection and analysis have not been completed at the time of submission. Manuscripts must describe the rationale, objectives, design, setting, participants, interventions or exposures, outcomes, analysis plan, ethical considerations, dissemination strategy, and study status. Authors should follow the appropriate reporting guideline, such as SPIRIT or PRISMA-P, and provide prospective registration when applicable. Protocols normally undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent external reviewers.
Perspectives/Viewpoints
This section publishes evidence-informed perspectives and viewpoints that critically examine emerging issues, conceptual debates, policies, practices, or future directions relevant to AHRIE. Contributions should present a clear argument, engage appropriately with current evidence, acknowledge alternative interpretations, and describe implications for research, practice, education, policy, or innovation. Submissions may be invited or unsolicited and may undergo external peer review at the editors’ discretion.
Opinion/Commentary Articles
This section publishes academically grounded opinion or commentary on relevant issues in health, research, innovation, education, or policy. Manuscripts should present a clear and well-reasoned position, engage appropriately with current evidence, distinguish interpretation from established fact, disclose relevant competing interests, and avoid partisan, promotional, commercial, or purely personal content. Submissions may be invited or unsolicited, undergo editorial assessment, and may be sent for external peer review when their content, complexity, or claims warrant it.
Letters to the Editor
This section publishes concise letters that discuss articles previously published in AHRIE or address scientific, clinical, educational, ethical, policy, or innovation-related issues relevant to the journal’s readership. Letters should clearly identify the article or issue being discussed and present respectful, scientifically grounded arguments. They should not exceed 1,000 words and do not require an abstract. Letters undergo editorial assessment and may require specialist, ethical, or methodological review when appropriate. When a letter comments on a published article, the authors of that article may be invited to respond.
Scientific Photo Essays
This section publishes scientifically grounded visual narratives that document relevant clinical, public health, educational, technological, environmental, or community phenomena within AHRIE’s scope. Submissions should include 6–15 high-quality photographs organized in a coherent sequence, accompanied by informative captions and a concise explanatory text. A brief unstructured abstract of up to 150 words is required. Authors must declare the authorship or authorized use of every image, submit the original image files separately, anonymize clinical information, and provide appropriate written consent for publication whenever individuals may be identifiable. Submissions undergo editorial assessment and may require specialist, ethical, methodological, or image-rights review.
Narrative Reviews
This section publishes narrative reviews and structured narrative reviews that integrate and critically analyze the available literature on topics relevant to health, education, innovation, and applied sciences. Manuscripts should state a clearly defined objective, transparently describe the information sources and search strategy used, explain the criteria applied to select and organize the evidence, provide a critical synthesis of the findings, and acknowledge the main limitations of the review process. These articles should not be presented as systematic reviews or scoping reviews unless they formally meet the corresponding methodological requirements. Manuscripts undergo peer review.
