Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing

AHRIE (Applied Health Research, Innovation & Education), published by Empresa de Capacitación Internacional ECI S.C. under its ECI Scientific Publishing imprint, is an immediate open-access journal. All articles are freely available from the moment of publication, without an embargo period, subscription, or registration requirement for reading.

Open-access policy

AHRIE allows anyone to read, download, copy, share, distribute, print, search, link to, and lawfully reuse its articles under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Immediate open access is intended to:

• increase the availability of scientific knowledge;

• encourage the reading, use, and citation of articles;

• support research, education, innovation, and collaboration;

• reduce economic and geographical barriers to access;

• enable the responsible preservation and dissemination of scientific findings.

Access to content will not be conditional upon payment by readers or institutions.

Copyright ownership

Authors retain copyright in their work. AHRIE does not require copyright to be transferred to the journal or publisher.

Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant AHRIE and Empresa de Capacitación Internacional ECI S.C. a non-exclusive right of first publication and the permissions necessary to:

• edit, produce, and publish the article;

• distribute it in print, electronic, and future formats;

• include it in databases, directories, indexes, and discovery systems;

• carry out digital-preservation activities;

• make the work publicly available as part of the journal;

• identify AHRIE as the original place of publication.

This non-exclusive right does not prevent authors from reusing, sharing, depositing, or distributing their work under the applicable license.

Creative Commons license

AHRIE articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0):

https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

This license allows anyone to:

• share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

• adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material;

• use the content for any lawful purpose, including commercial purposes.

These freedoms are granted provided that the license terms are followed.

Attribution requirements

Anyone sharing or adapting an article must:

• give appropriate credit to the authors;

• cite the title of the work and its original source;

• identify AHRIE as the journal of first publication;

• provide the article’s DOI or permanent link, when available;

• provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license;

• indicate whether changes were made;

• refrain from suggesting that the authors, AHRIE, or the publisher endorse the reuse or the person making it.

No legal terms or technological measures may be applied that restrict uses permitted by the license.

Copyright and licensing notice

Articles will include a statement equivalent to:

“Copyright © [year of publication] Author(s). This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).”

In Spanish:

“Copyright © [año de publicación] Autor(es). Este trabajo está bajo una licencia Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).”

Copyright and licensing information must appear on the article page and, whenever possible, in its PDF, HTML, XML, and metadata versions.

Third-party material

The CC BY 4.0 license applies to the article as a whole unless a specific element is expressly identified as being subject to different terms.

Authors must clearly identify any:

• third-party figure, table, photograph, image, or excerpt;

• material used under another license;

• content reproduced with permission;

• material subject to a legal exception or limitation.

When an element is not covered by the article’s license, its copyright notice, source, license, or permission must be stated in the corresponding text or caption.

Publication under CC BY 4.0 does not grant rights that the authors or AHRIE are not authorized to grant, such as certain privacy, image, personal-data, trademark, or third-party material rights.

Author responsibilities

Authors must ensure that:

• the work is original and they hold the rights required for publication;

• all sources are properly cited;

• all necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained;

• all authors understand and accept the license;

• publication does not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other rights;

• any applicable restriction has been disclosed to the editorial team.

Authors remain responsible for the content, integrity, and legality of their work.

Self-archiving and repository deposit

Authors may deposit and disseminate:

• the preliminary or preprint version;

• the accepted manuscript following peer review;

• the final version published by AHRIE.

As applicable, these versions may be deposited in:

• institutional repositories;

• subject or disciplinary repositories;

• personal or institutional websites;

• academic profiles and other legitimate scholarly communication platforms.

AHRIE imposes no embargo period on self-archiving.

Once a published version exists, the deposited copy must include the complete bibliographic citation and the DOI or permanent link to the AHRIE article. Earlier versions must be clearly identified to prevent confusion with the final published version.

Additional non-exclusive agreements

Authors may enter into additional non-exclusive arrangements to distribute the published version of their work, including its inclusion in an institutional repository, book, thesis, or collection, provided that:

• first publication in AHRIE is acknowledged;

• the article’s citation and DOI or link are included;

• third-party rights and licensing conditions are respected;

• the new arrangement does not restrict rights already granted under CC BY 4.0.

Reuse by authors

As copyright holders, authors may reuse their article in teaching activities, presentations, repositories, compilations, books, and subsequent works without requesting additional permission from AHRIE.

They must cite the original publication and avoid any presentation that could be interpreted as a new or different publication of the same work.

Integrity of the published version

Adaptations, translations, or reuses created by third parties must identify any changes made and may not be presented as official AHRIE versions.

The official version is the version published on the journal’s website and associated with its DOI or permanent identifier.

Policy updates

Any future change to this policy will not retroactively alter the license applied to previously published articles. Creative Commons licenses cannot be revoked for users who comply with their terms.
